ALARM Seminar What do you mean, “I’m the Records Manager?” Two sessions

Remember the clause in your job description that says "other duties as
necessary"? Well, congratulations, that now includes records management.
So what do you do, how do you start, what is a retention schedule, how
do you store records, how do you dispose of records, and CAN you dispose
of records? These sessions will start you out on your road to
understanding the world of records management. Whether you've just
been assigned the duties or have been a records manager for a few years,
our speakers will help you get started or provide your skills a
refresher on the key records management concepts.

Barbara Benson received her Masters Degree in History/Archival and
Records Management from New York University. She has worked as either
Archivist or Records Manager for such diverse organizations as Chemical
Bank; New York City Department of Records and Information Services;
Seton Hall University/ Archdiocese of Newark; New York State Archives
and Records Administration. Since 1992 she has been the Director of
Records Management Services at the University of Washington.

Jeff Benson is currently at the National Archives and Records
Administration/Pacific Alaska Regional Office in Seattle, where he has
been a Senior Records Analyst for almost ten years. His previous
experience includes Regional Records Officer contractor at the Seattle
office of the EPA; as well as archival/records management
responsibilities in the private sector (Weyerhaeuser Company), state
government (New York State), and municipal government (New York City).

In addition, as each work environment has its own records management
challenges, a representative of the Records Management staff from each
hosting agency will be on hand to address questions specific to your
organization.
