Program:        Public Records Act Compliance

Program Description: This informational training will cover various topics related to the Public Records Act, including best practices, social media and recent case law.  It will be followed by a question and answer session related to the issues and challenges of responding to public records requests. 

Speaker: Sharon Johnson, Public Records Officer, City of Seattle-Legislative Department

 

Sharon has designed a model Public Records Disclosure Program for the City of Seattle’s Legislative Department emphasizing best practices, customer service, and ease of access to public records.  As a recognized leader in Public Records Disclosure compliance and innovation, she is consistently called upon for her PRA expertise.  Sharon has participated as a speaker and panelist in roundtables covering PRA topics and is currently developing a series of “lunch and learn” seminars addressing compliance challenges. 

 

Sharon holds a Master of Professional Studies degree in Paralegal Studies from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C., with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Law and Justice.  She is an active member of the Washington State and National Federation of Paralegal Associations.

To reach us from I-5 Southbound: Take Exit 198 and follow the highway south into Everett to Tower Street and turn right.  Follow Tower Street two blocks and continue left to the main college entrance and campus parking to your right.

To reach us from I-5 Northbound Take Exit 195 and turn left onto E. Marine View Drive.  Go one half mile to 16th Street and turn left.  Follow 16th Street to Broadway.  Turn right onto Broadway and continue to Tower Street and turn left.  Follow Tower Street two blocks and continue left to the main college entrance and campus parking to your right.
