Program Title: Records Managers and IT Working Together

Description: A panel discussion with three records mangers that work heavily with their Information Technology unit daily or on special projects and one IT staff member that works in conjunction with a Records Manager. Bring questions and your challenges to the panel of experts.

Speakers Profile: 

Dean Koga, works for Stoel Rives LLP as a Records Supervisor for the Seattle, Minneapolis and Anchorage offices. He has been member and volunteer for the Greater Seattle Chapter of ARMA and ARMA International since 1989. Koga has served as Chapter President, Region Coordinator, on the Region Conference Committee, and on the ARMA International's Conference and Program committees. 

Vanessa Ressler is the Records Program Manager at the Port of Seattle. She began working for the Port of Seattle in September 2000. Prior to working for the Port, she worked in the medical records field for over twenty-five years. Vanessa worked at two hospitals in Oregon and a home health agency here in Washington and currently manages the Port’s records program and is the Port’s Records Officer and oversee the public disclosure process.
Ian Smith is the technology manager for the Legislative Department at the City of Seattle. He has over 20 years experience in technology including 10 years in healthcare management. Ian lives in the Roosevelt neighborhood with his wife and 3 children.

Tim Westhoff CRM has been the Records Manager at Capital One ShareBuilder Inc. since 2005. He manages the daily archiving of millions of electronic brokerage records and emails. Tim has a History degree from Seattle University and a Master’s in Library Science from the University of Washington. He received his CRM in 2005. Tim has been a member of the Greater Seattle ARMA chapter since 1997 and has served as a board member. He lives in Burien with his wife and two daughters.

Lynda Wright, is a Senior IT Project Manager with the Port of Seattle for five years. She has assisted with the deployments across the Port’s 56 departments in several Microsoft Products: Windows 7, Office 2010 and SharePoint 2010. She currently focusing with SharePoint is adding the Records Center component from the IT side of the house and working closely with the Records Program Manager to meet the requirements of the business. Prior to coming to the Port, she was a Program Manager for the last fifteen years in the Telecommunications field for ATT, Cingular, T-Mobile and Comverse technologies. She earned my Master’s degree in Project Management in 2001.

Vulcan Inc. is located near Centurylink Field and the King’s Street Station at, 505 5th Ave S; Suite 900; Seattle WA 98104, Our event will be hosed on floor 9. Enter the lobby from the 5th Ave side of the building and go to the 9th floor. Please present yourself to security and you will be issue a badge.

North bound: Going North bound take exit 164 A for Dearborn St. and follow signs for Dearborn St. Turn left onto S. Dearborn. St. and then slight right on Seattle Blvd. S. Turn right onto 4th Ave. S for the parking garage.



South bound: Going South bound take exit 164 for Interstate 90 E toward Bellevue/ Spokane; follow signs for Interstate 5 S Tacoma/ Portland keep right at the fork follow signs for 4th Ave S.; keep right at the fork and follows signs for city Center/ Century Link Field. Turn left onto 4th Ave S for the parking garage.



Parking is available under the Vulcan, but the may be considered expensive. There are other lots next to Centurylink Field (just walk across the Weller Street Bridge to 505), and there are other lots around the area.
